Whether you’re worried about your quiet alarm waking up your roommates or the sound of your music distracting you from a morning workout, Apple gives iPhone users multiple ways to fine-tune their alarm volume. The solution may surprise you.
First, try restarting your device. This can help fix a temporary glitch. Next, make sure ‘Change with buttons’ is enabled in Sound settings.
- Open the Settings app
Some iPhone users have reported that the alarm volume on their devices is too low to be heard when it goes off. This can be a real problem, especially if you need to wake up early for work or school.
The good news is that there are some troubleshooting steps you can take to fix this issue. The first thing you should try is restarting your phone. This can often fix problems with the sound volume on your device.
Another option is to go into the Settings app and tap Sound & Haptics. This will open the volume slider that controls the ringer, system alerts, and notifications. You can also set the alarm to a specific volume from this screen. If you want to be able to control the ringer and alarm volume with the physical buttons on your iPhone, make sure that the Change with Buttons toggle is enabled.
If you still aren’t able to hear your alarm, there may be a problem with the phone’s hardware. You can try running a software update through the Settings app to see if that fixes the problem.
Finally, if you are using the Bedtime feature inside of the Clock app and you are having issues with your alarm volume, make sure that you turn off the Attention Aware feature in the Phone settings. Several users have found that turning off this feature in the Phone settings has fixed their alarm issues.
Mastering your iPhone or iPad can be challenging, especially since Apple changed some things with the iOS 11 update. But if you follow these simple tips, you can easily fine-tune your ringer and alarm volume so that it’s loud enough to wake you up in the morning.
- Tap Sounds & Haptics
Whether you’re trying to sleep through the night or wake up from a short nap, your iPhone alarm volume needs to be at just the right level. A too-loud alarm can be startling, while one that’s too low may not wake you up.
You can adjust your ringer and alert volume on an iPhone with the settings app. Simply tap Sounds & Haptics to open the menu and then drag the slider to set the desired ringer and alarm volume. You’ll hear the ringer and alerts at their current volume while you’re making changes, so you can test them out.
By default, an iPhone’s physical volume buttons control media playback—videos, music, and so on. If you want to enable the option to let the buttons also control your ringer and alarm volume, you’ll need to toggle on Change with Buttons in the Ringers and Alerts menu.
If you share an iPhone with roommates, you might find that the ringer volume on your device isn’t loud enough to wake everyone up. This is easy to fix with the simple steps above. You can also adjust the alarm volume to suit your unique sleeping habits, or use a custom tone that suits you better. - Tap Ringer & Alerts
Some users report that the alarm tone on their iPhone X or other iOS devices is too low to wake them up. The solution is actually pretty simple: check whether the Do Not Disturb mode or ring/silent physical switch are ON. If they are, turn them OFF. It’s also a good idea to update your device software to the latest version.
Another way to fine-tune your alarm is by using a song as your alert sound. You can do this from the Clock app and then tapping “Edit.” Once you’ve found a sound that is both pleasant and effective at waking you up, don’t forget to save your settings.
You can adjust the volume of your ringer, call, and alert sounds in your Settings app. To do so, open the Settings app and scroll down a bit until you see the “Sounds” or “Haptics” section. From here, you can use the slider to set your desired volume. The changes will apply to all of your iPhone’s alarm, ringer, and alert sounds, including the notification bell and any other sounds you may have configured.
Alternatively, you can use the volume buttons on your iPhone to change the ringer and alert volume (or any other audio) as long as “Change with Buttons” is enabled in the Sounds settings. If you have disabled this setting, you can enable it by opening the Settings app, tapping “Sounds & Haptics,” and then using the slider to set your desired volume.
Lastly, if you’re having trouble with your iPhone alarm volume, you can try removing a third-party alarm app that could be interfering with the iPhone’s built-in Clock app. To do so, tap on the app to open its menu and then tap “Edit.” Once you’ve done this, select the option to disable the alarm and see if that solves the issue.
- Tap Volume
If you have an iPhone, the volume slider in your Settings app controls both ringers and alerts. If the alarm tone is too low, it might not wake you up. Or, if it’s too loud, the jarring sound might cause you to oversleep. Fortunately, adjusting the alarm volume on your iPhone is a simple process that usually resolves any problems with the volume being too low or too high.
If the phone’s ringer volume is too high or too low, the problem could be a hardware or software issue that only needs to be fixed through a software update. Try restarting your device and checking the sound settings for any customizations that have been made. If the problem persists, a new iOS update might be necessary.
In addition to adjusting the ringer and alarm volume in your Settings app, you can also use the physical volume buttons on the side of the phone to change the volume. To do this, you need to enable the “Change with Buttons” option in your Settings app under Sound.
To check the ringer and alerts volume, scroll down to the “Ringer” section in your Settings app. Drag the slider to raise or lower the ringer and alerts volume as desired.
If you’re using the Bedtime feature in your Clock app, this will prevent any of your alarms from playing at a normal volume. To set up a normal alarm, close the Bedtime app and return to the Clock app. You can then create a new Alarm or select a current one. You can also select a different tone as the alarm sounds, but be sure to toggle the Change with Buttons option on in the Ringer and Alerts section of your Settings app.
- Tap Change with Buttons
Whether you like your alarms to be loud or soft, it’s important to wake up feeling refreshed. The right volume for your iPhone alarm will help ensure you get a good night’s sleep, without being too jarring when you’re woken up. It’s possible to adjust your alarm volume in settings, but it may take a little digging to find. This wikiHow will show you how to do just that.
On the iPhone, you can adjust the ringer and alerts volume using the slider in the Sounds & Haptics settings. The changes you make will affect all incoming calls, notifications, and app sounds. You can also enable Change with Buttons in the same settings to allow the physical buttons on your phone to control your alarm volume.
This setting isn’t available on all phones, though. Some models have a dedicated “Alarm” option that allows you to select an alarm tone and set the volume, but other devices have no separate Alarms tab. This is a bummer if you use your phone’s physical volume buttons to control your alarms, but there are workarounds that you can try.
You can also troubleshoot iPhone alarm volume problems by restarting your device. This can fix a temporary glitch and resolve your problem. You can also remove third-party apps from your iPhone that might be causing a conflict with the Clock app.
If the problem persists, you may need to reset your iPhone settings. This process will restore all personalized settings to their default values. Before doing so, you should back up your iPhone to prevent losing any data. Be sure to update your iOS as well. You can do this by opening the Settings app and tapping General.
